OUR HISTORY
The Knights of Columbus was founded by Blessed Michael J. McGivney in the basement of St. Mary's Church on February 6, 1882 and incorporated on March 29, 1882

The first Council in Canada (Montreal Council #284) was chartered on November 25, 1897


The first Exemplification of the Fourth Degree occurred on February 22, 1900 in New York City

Newfoundland and Labrador State Council was instituted on January 27, 1917 with the formation of Dalton Council #1448 and Terra Nova Council #1452
St. Teresa's Council #7702 was chartered on February 1, 1980

Fr. Michael J. McGivney was officially declared "Venerable" on March 16, 2008 after the declaration of a heroic virtue then declared "Blessed" through the beatification on October 31, 2020

A first-class relic of Blessed Michael J. McGivney toured throughout Newfoundland and Labrador from March 15 to December 3, 2023
