Fr. Thomas Irving Kelly Memorial Scholarship Presentation
On Saturday, January 6, 2024, we presented our council’s “Fr. Thomas Irving Kelly Memorial Scholarship” to Nathan George, grandson of Brother Knight Austin Hawley. This scholarship is in the memory of Fr. Thomas Irving Kelly, a Redemptorist who spent many years at St. Teresa’s Parish. Fr. Tom had a long teaching career as a Redemptorist, including in the subjects of Moral Theology, Ethics, Liturgy, and Church Music. He was always a supporter of the Knights of Columbus, and he passed away at St. Teresa’s in 2010. This scholarship is open to Knights of our council, as well as their spouses, children, and grandchildren. The individual can be in any year of any program at any accredited post-secondary institution (university, college, trade school, etc.). It is awarded primarily based on the academic achievement(s) of the individual, as well as an accompanying autobiographical statement detailing their overall background and community involvement, and is currently valued at $500.
